Halloween
October 31st is Halloween Night when all the ghosts, ghouls, and witches come out to play.
In America Halloween Night is also known as Trick or Treat Night. Children suitably dressed for the occasion, knock on their neighbour's doors and ask - "Trick or Treat ?". If no treat is forthcoming, usually in the form of sweets, the children play a trick on the unfortunate neighbour. Trick or Treating is now very popular in many other countries. |
Talking of witches... Why not gather together different types of broomstick - the traditional witch's broomstick, a yard brush, a dustpan brush, hair brush and feather duster etc.. Ask the children what the different brooms and brushes are used for. Examine the brushes and let the children guess what they are made of. |
